Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

According to several spy shots that have surfaced on the web, it seems that the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is slated to receive a facelift for the 2017 MY. The fourth generation of this long-lived SUV has been around since 2009, soldiering on with its sheet metal pretty much unchanged. However, it has recently received a significant upgrade in the engine department that now hosts a new turbo-diesel engine option. As for the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, expect it to arrive with a number of styling tweaks and updated infotainment features.

The company has yet to reveal the official release date but we expect the 2017 Toyota Prado to go on sale in late 2016.

2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Features

As mentioned, the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is expected to adopt several tweaks concentrated mostly on its front end. Those include a larger front grille with a horizontal theme, as well as redesigned headlights. The facelifted model will also get a new bumper and front fenders, while its hood will be slightly reshaped. At the back, expect to see a new bumper and redesigned tail-lights. Other updates include new body paints, a new set of alloy wheels, whereas the cabin gets Toyota’s new infotainment system with the latest touch-screen display. Now, the Land Cruiser Prado aimed at the Middle Eastern markets is expected to receive a less aggressive front end compared to the one seen on the previous model. That version will sport a deeper bumper with a number of chrome accents.

2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Engine

One of the most significant upgrades that the Land Cruiser Prado has received lately is the new turbocharged diesel engine. It comes in the form of a 2.8-liter four-cylinder unit making 174 hp (130 kW) and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque, replacing the old 3.0-liter version. Its power can be transmitted either through a six-speed manual or a newly introduced six-speed Super ECT automatic gearbox. Thanks to the new powertrain, the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will return better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Now, the European markets can expect this model to offer a 4.0-liter VVT-I petrol-powered V8 generating 278 hp and 284 lb-ft of twist.
