The Toyota Estima is a seven-seat MPV that has been sold on the Japanese market since 1990. The model is available in other countries as well, but sold under different nameplates, including the Tarago in Australia, Canarado in Asia Pacific and Previa on other markets. The Estima is currently in its third iteration that was launched back in 2006, while the last facelift it received took place in 2012. According to the company sources, the 2016 Toyota Estima is not expected to bring any notable changes. Although it currently isn’t among the best-selling models in its class, it appears that Toyota is satisfied with its fan base that doesn’t seem to dwindle as the years go by. It’s also very likely that its possible successor won’t be arriving within the next few years.
2016 Toyota Estima Exterior and Interior Styling
Despite its age, the Estima still features a fresh and sleek exterior styling. Thanks to its rounded-off edges, this MPV doesn’t look too boxy, as is the case with most of its rivals. Its front fascia is dominated by an aggressive-looking bumper with striking air intakes reminiscent of those seen on the new Toyota Alphard. The sides feature a similar styling, while the 18-inch alloy wheels in two-tone finish add to the Estima’s appeal. After the last update, the rear end sports a number of details that give this model a much more contemporary look.
2016 Toyota Estima Side
As for the interior, the 2016 Toyota Estima will be among the most comfortable and practical models on the market. It boasts an attractive interior design with several upgraded materials. Whereas the older models came with a fake wood trim, the updated Estima now gets a sleek dashboard finished in black trim. One of the features you’d normally expect from an MPV model is ample storage space and the Estima really excels in this area.
2016 Toyota Estima Engine
There will be no changes when it comes to the engine department. The 2016 Toyota Estima will be motivated by the familiar 2.4-liter four-cylinder that delivers 170 horsepower. Its power will be conveyed to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission.
With its impressive interior space able to carry up to seven adult passengers and the smooth ride it provides, the 2016 Toyota Estima will certainly remain one of the most appealing family haulers available on the market.
