As part of the phasing out of Toyota’s Scion division, the tC is slated to end production in August. However, this sports coupe will be available for the 2017 model year in its final release edition. The 2017 Scion tC will benefit from the recent facelift and last year’s updates that brought several technological advancements. Just like its predecessors, the last tC hatchback coupe is expected to attract primarily younger buyers.
2017 Scion tC Design and Equipment
As for the exterior styling, the 2017 Scion tC will be virtually identical to the 2016 model. Thanks to the 2014 facelift, the tC boasts a fresh-looking front end with a wide-mouth lower grille, LED headlights and a particularly long hood. Now, the interior is something that sets this model apart from the competitors. This two-door coupe boasts an exceptionally comfortable cabin that offers some upscale materials and a generally upscale look. While the driver’s seat is multi-adjustable, the rear bench provides more room than you’d normally expect from a car that size. The only objection concerns somewhat monotonous coloring that comes in black and gray tones.
Thus far, the tC has been known for its sporty appearance and exciting driving experience it offers. Expect no less from the last model which will once again be replete with Toyota’s latest features and a long list of standard amenities. Those include the recently introduced 7-inch touch-screen audio system with voice training, Bluetooth, Smart Key with push-button start, POI search, etc. In addition to a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls, automatic headlights and a panoramic moonroof also come standard. Safety-wise, expect the tC to offer Toyota’s Star Safety System with traction and stability control, eight airbags and active front headrests.
2017 Scion tC Specs and Price
Expect no surprises when it comes to the engine department. The 2017 Scion tC will be motivated by the single 2.5-liter inline-4 that makes 179 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission that comes with rev-matching technology and shift pedals mounted to the steering wheel.
2017 Scion tC Rear
Although it’s yet to be officially confirmed, we expect the 2017 Scion tC to be priced similarly to the outgoing version. That means the base model will start just above $20,000.
